Completely Refurbed Stromberg set up & Ported Inlet Manifold just listed on Classifieds

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Just a quick heads up, as I know lots of folk on here don't look at Classifieds, but I have just listed a completely refurbished pair of Stombergs on a 4A manifold complete with all linkages, read to bolt on and go - done to an exceptionally high standard  - suitable for any 4 cylinder TR engine with a high port head.

Also listed is a 4A inlet manifold which has been gas flowed and ported to fit a modified cylinder head - the ports measure 41.8mm in diameter.

Anybody interested or have any queries, please get in touch

Cheers Rich

The carbs look like a bargain with manifold and linkage.

They should sell very quickly.

"Look like a bargain" - really? I guess I must be giving stuff away or TR6 parts are far cheaper then as I just sold rebuilt Strombergs, manifold and complete linkages on ebay for £137 to a man in Germany - admittedly mine weren't as polished but hundreds of pounds difference?? Perhaps I need to get the polish and a buffer out yes/no? Admittedly my carbs came with the car already refurbed in USA and invoice to go with them so whatever I got from sale was a bonus as they only detune a TR6 compared to SU carbs, Webber and the wonderful PI system.

Michael,

I understand you may disagree about the prices another forum user asks for his parts but I think discussing it with him directly or via a PM would be a much better method of bringing it to his attention. Having an open forum disrespecting of another's parts or car for sale doesn't lay well with our friendly forum aspirations.

I Agree.

I just looked at my old records and found an invoice from 2015 where I had my carbs and manifold overhauled here in Germany. 1200 Euros !!

Yes, you gave it away! Not using carbs anymore, but I would have bought them from you for far more.

Got it in one Jochem, Michael let his carbs go, way to cheaply, and now he sounds a tad miffed.

Looking at the cost of a pair of refurbished carbs only, at £400 ,ish, then Richards £525 seems, on the money having manifold and linkage etc., but ultimately they,ll sell or they won't- End of, and these kind of comments simply have the effect of causing unnecessary 'Angst'

John.

Hi guys - people read different things into what I have said--to Motorsports Mickey I was not trying to cause offence and if seller was offended then I apologise. No I am not miffed - as I said the carbs came with my car, I didn't want them - my question really should have been along the lines of "how much is the right price to charge for something like this? " You see I have noticed that the prices on forums do tend to be high compared with say the bay or even dealers at times--I'm a Newbie here so don't shoot me I'm just saying what I see - folks can get mighty grumpy about money eh - so I will put up and shut up as its a conversation that I see some folks don't like to have.

Have a nice day

Michael et all - I don't have an issue with your post - this is after all a free democratic society ( supposedly!) and this is an open forum, so you are entitled to express your opinion. However, to be fair, you need to compare like with like, not apples and pairs.

My parts are effectively brand new ( well actually better than brand new ), have never been fitted or used. They are not old stock because they were rebuilt like this in the last few weeks and I collected them a few days ago.

That, in my opinion, is completely different to a set acquired with an imported car ( you don't say but I'm guessing they weren't fitted or used but could easily have been) albeit with documents purporting to show they had been reconditioned ( when?) and by whom, a recognised specialist?

Add to this the fact that you are referring to a TR6 set up and manifold, whilst mine are for the 4 pot cars, then these are completely different markets. This can and does have a marked impact on value as I'm sure you recognise.

Last Stoneleigh, I sold a set of 175 CD Strombergs on a triumph 2000 manifold with all linkages, in exceptionally good , clean condition for £125  which I was more than happy with, but they weren't brand spanking new items.

So no hard feelings, just remember when you go into a shop next time and ask for an apple and are given a pear, you are entitled to ask to change it and get any difference in price corrected!

Cheers  Rich

I posted my last reply just as Michael was posting his - I didn't take offence as I said above - simple misunderstanding it looks like to me, so, Michael stay with the forum and don't be afraid to ask questions in the future.

If you ever want to buy any of my bits, I'll throw in a free apple!!

cheers Rich

.

as an aside..  if it's not too much a distraction to the OP..   might I ask what the triangular shaped bosses on top of the 4A manifold balance pipe are or were originally for.?   They are different to other TR models and in under bonnet shots of various cars appear not to do anything.
