rogerowen
I can't hear that my indicators are working (and dash light too dim to see in daylight). So, I'm thinking of fitting a 'beeper'. I've got one that works on towing electrics and I was wondering if anyone else has fitted similar. There's an earth, a left and a right connection - which I thought I could connect along with the 3 connection flasher unit.
RobH
Lots of us have done that Roger and a search will bring up several threads on the subject. I'm sure yours can be made to work - do you have any connection details for it? If it's just a beeper It might be as easy as wiring it in parallel with the dash tell-tale, using just one of the 'input' leads (or maybe both in parallel). edit - I've just found the data here: http://www.hammersleys.com/pdf/3870B Professional Audible Sensor.pdf The thing seem to have relay in it as well as a beeper so its a bit more complicated maybe. RobH
Try connecting orange to + and black to earth. If it buzzes you may only need those two across the dash lamp.
Lebro
Why not just buy a 12Volt beeper with two wires, & connect across the indicator warning lamp. They are dirt cheap on Ebay etc. Bob. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-3V-24V-Active-Sound-Alarm-4216-Piezo-Beeper-Buzzer-Sensor-Elements-Beep-Sound/303247677401?hash=item469af857d9:m:m0NDBB9zR-edOiBTkXHiy-Q For example

It must be easy if I have done it! Miles

Lebro
The sort you have is designed to beep when a level of current is passed through it. I.E. the 21W indicator bulbs on the trailer. To use as a warning you would need to break your existing circuit to either front or rear indicators, on both sides, & insert the "beeper" in that circuit, then it will see current passing though it. Quite a lot of re-wiring IMO. Bob. Edited October 16, 2019 by Lebro
RobH
Ah yes - the beeper doesn't work if the trailer lamps are blown, according to the data sheet so you would need a suitable load on the green and yellow output leads (no need to cut any wires though). As you say - not really worth the effort unless you were going to fit a trailer socket too.
BlueTR3A-5EKT
This is what I fitted years ago as I could not see the repeater nor hear the click when driving with aeroscreens or just the screen fitted. It is loud! Simple fit - one wire from the existing repeater lamp to the new buzzer/flasher, one wire from new buzzer/flasher to earth. Mount the thing with a bit of bent aluminium under the dash. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AC-DC-12V-Red-LED-Buzzer-Alarm-Signal-Indicator-Flash-Light-Panel-Mount-/232186685260?hash=item360f67a74c Cheers Peter W
RobH
I don't like the high-pitched beepers, so fitted one of these (many years ago when you could get them from Maplins): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-Buzzer-12V-85dB-SD104-BUY-TWO-AND-GET-A-THIRD-FREE/122830014493?hash=item1c993d481d:g:DSgAAOxy0zhTMAJT It gives a deeper buzzing note rather than a piercing tweet, which I find preferable and which is plenty loud enough even when driving on aeroscreens, which I do all the time. ChrisR-4A
I usually drive along with 1 or 2 other cars and flashing headlights in the mirror or a call over the CB does it for me. As long as I'm not tail end Charlie, but then as far as I know I never leave them on Chris

RobH
Its connected straight across the dash tell-tale lamp Roger, and just cable-tied to the dash support bracket.
dingle
Although it not an option on TR4/A, I switched the turn signal indicator light wiring to the hazzard warning light, which is red and bright enough to get my attention. Berry
RogerH
Hi Roger, a couple of years back one of the forum group produced a very tidy beeper and LED that fitted inside the existing alarm light lens. I have one of these going spare. I'll PM you later in the day. Roger
