Adie TR3A 0 Report post Posted October 10 Before i go the route of later calipers on a cost basis for my 3A restoration i am looking at alternatives In Roger Williams book on improving TR2-4's he mentions the use of Toyota 4x4 front calipers as a conversion as they have a greater piston area being 4 over the OEM 2 Anyone done this mod and if so which calipers do you use Regards Adrian Salisbury
david ferry 15 Report post Posted October 10 Hello Adrian. You shouldn’t really need ‘upgraded calipers’ as its entirely possible to lock wheels with standard calipers. I do have a vested interest as I have a stash of standard calipers for sale, these having been refurbished recently by Bigg Red! David
RobH 124 Report post Posted October 10 +1. I find the standard ones are more than adequate but of course they do need a lot more leg-power than a modern car. If you a want lighter pedal you really need a servo not different calipers.
stuart 268 Report post Posted October 10 Absolutely nothing wrong with original calipers, more than capable of locking the wheels up. Also dont forget you will alter the brake balance so you would need to uprate the rears correctly to suit. Stuart.
