sticking clutch

why would a clutch stick over night ?

i have tried slipping it to clean the surfaces and even after a few hours lay up it still sticks.Easy to free but why.

clutch pedal is fine.

But would contamination not clean off with use or are you surgesting that it could be totally soaked.

Oil it slips, moisture is a cause and yes it sweats when cooling.

I believe my clutch may be seized internally. Master and slave cylinders were replaced by previous owner. Transmission shifts through gears when engine is not running. Should I be able to actuate the clutch by hand, if the pushrod is disconnected at the transmission? Thoughts?

Hi Atch,

if you can lift the car high enough to get a 3ft scaffold pole on the clutch cross shaft operating arm you may be able to move.

With the slave cy disconnected does the Master Cy operate the slave.?

If you are trying to diagnose then unless you have the transmission tunnel off you will need another person to watch the lever as you operate the pedal. Either that or use a phone to take a video. That should tell you whether the lever is moving properly.
