Spit_2.5PI
Bob, you're right, the tell-tale lamp is probably via a transistor, but it might not be! (Which is cheaper, a transistor & resistor or the marginal cost of a double-pole relay?) Roger, how lucky do you feel? If I've understood correctly, the tant is across the battery (via the flasher) when the LED is lit, and the resistor is between the tant and the LED, not the tant and the battery, right? Leaving the indicators on does at least provide the perfect test rig for this potentially destructive test Cheers, Richard PS: Can you pop the top off the flasher and take a look inside? RogerH
Hi Richard, the output to the alarm light is via a chip and a tranny. The relay does the main lights. The Tant is across the earth and the LED series resistor and then onto the LED The case and circuit can be opened - hence the Tant being inside. Roger
Spit_2.5PI
Excellent! You should be OK then Roger. What's the voltage rating of the tant?
RogerH
I'll have a look and report back Roger
