Inlet manifold bolt sizes

Recommended Posts

Good day guys. I am doing a carb conversion. I have noted that the inlet manifold bolt sizes differ. The top 3 are i think, 8mm and the bottom 3, 10mm.

Is this normal or has my head been modified.

Also are they metric or imperial?

Thanks.

Arnold,

They should not be metric, they are UNF, 2 sizes, I think 5/16” and 3/8”.

Also, they should be studs with a nut, not bolts.

Maybe someone replaced them and tapped new threads in the head?

Metric is coarser than UNF.

Hi Arnold,

can’t help you with the airco:)

Typically, metric bolts are stamped 8.8 or 10.9 or 4.6 or similar. UNF bolts have a “stripe-system”

3stripes equals 8.8 quality.
