Big End Bearings

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a set of Std big end bearings, where is going to be the best place to purchase?

I haven't been able to find any info on the running clearance of this bearing to make sure I get the correct shells, does anybody have any info, it would be appreciated

Workshop manual provides the information you need.

If the crank is standard and the journals don’t require a regrind then buying a standard set of bearings as sold will provide the correct running clearances.

As to the best supplier I would be using the TR specialists especially those who specialise in competition, TR Enterprises, Revingtons, Racetoration and others.

John,

I ordered King trimetal, they are relatively cheep, but appeared to result in a larger than acceptable radial clearance. All other clearances (journals and caps) were correct. I never had a response from King, other than “speak to your distributor” .

I then ordered Glacier, and the clearances came out as “per the book”. There are several posts on this forum about this.

Some prefer NOS, but I prefer new (recently produced) good quality items, because in 40-50 years, a lot can happen. But that is my personal thought.

Others have used the cheap bearings (I think County) from our suppliers with succes, so that is another option.

Regards,

Waldi
