IanClarke
Speedo stopped working. Tried the obvious. Disconnected cable at speedo end cable not rotating. So re-connected. Disconnected cable at the angle drive and ut a battery drill on it. Speedo worked. So all that is left is the angle drive or worse? How do I test? Looks like the angle drive rotates on a visual inspection. Can this be big trouble?
Nigel Triumph
If turning the cable from the gearbox/overdrive end makes the speedo work, clearly the cable and the instrument itself are okay. Angle drives are known to fail, so try disconnecting it from the overdrive and turning the input stub on the angle drive with the speedo cable connected. If the speedo doesn't work, clearly it's the angle drive. Less likely but possible is stripping of the teeth on the worm and pinion drive off the overdrive output shaft. The pinion can be replaced in situ but if it's the worm gear, the overdrive needs to come out. Fingers crossed it's not that serious. Nigel

SteveB21
Here's a picture of a failed angle drive for you - came off my 6 just over a month ago.... Hopefully your issue & fix is as obvious and straightforward! Cheers Steve
IanClarke
connected the angle drive to the cable, powered with drill and speedo worked. So problem bigger and deeper.
