Adrian tr6
I have a window winder that just turns around without moving the window up. I presume the regulator has broken. Is it possible to fix these or is it just easier to replace? Can the regulator be removed and re-installed without taking the glass out of the door?
RogerH
Hi Adrian, I would have thought the teeth are stripped on the gear wheel. The regulator can be replaced without removing the glass from the door. The new regulators use M8 screws instead of the 5/16UNF. Roger
Adrian tr6
Roger, Thanks for your advice. Will go ahead and order a new mechanism. Adrian
Nigel Triumph
I had to do exactly this on the driver's door of my '6 a few years ago. It's not a bad job to tackle. Nigel
ed_h
What's likely happened is that the shaft the handle is mounted to is spinning in it's bracket. That was the case with mine. A tack weld or two fixed it right up. Ed
Adrian tr6
Thanks Ed. Got a mate to weld and installed it back in the car tonight.
