Halda speedpilot (competition)

Recommended Posts

Anyone out there got an mounting bracket that they don't need or can draw a template and send me.The one I have includes stop watches, Butlers nav light etc and is a bit heavy duty. Want to make a sub panel and mount the Halda separtately.

Might be worth posting this on the Competition/Rallying area of the Forum, although there doesn't seem to be much happening there these days!

Doug Barrow will, of course know but mine came directly out of works side screen TR. Therefore, brackets and everything else original and period correct

On the '57 events in the TR3 the speedpilot was fitted on the gearbox tunnel behind the gearstick

The speed Speedpilot  was fitted on the Transmission tunnel. I can measure my brackets. if you can wait a few days I will draw them up.

This is VRW 219, 1958 Apple Green 3A on the Monte.

Hi gents,

I don't really  want to butcher the glove box and it was originally fitted below the dash.  That has the tendency to restrict aged navigators access,  so I like the idea of the transmission tunnel fitting. The down side of that is the tendency to get motion sickness from looking down at the screen.

I may just get some alloy sheet and make my own to suit any and all pics and ideas welcome.

All my additional switches are fitted on the drivers side of the dash Spots/fogs, Reversing lights, air horns etc. I would also like to install passenger/navigator  dual switches again on a subpanel below the dash.

Alternatively Rod you could do a Gatso and run two Speedpilots....one on the tunnel and one on a bracket from the dash.. He also ran the cable for the second from a front wheel to obviate wheel-spin inaccuracies

Could one not just make another glove box door to take the quipment so you save the original.

Some ply wood painted or wrapped to suit you could drill and mount brackets to your hearts content then.

ps

iain that’s a hell of a bit of iron mongery to put in front of the passenger. Looks like the rally lamp bracket on the front of my old mk1 escort.

Way ahead of you Tony!

I would have to

1 Lose use of lockable lid

2 Cut the glove box for flexible cables

3. Create a look I don't really like.
