RogerH
Hi Ian, welcome to the forum. The TRShop in Chiswick do a plastic cover virtually identical to original. Various upholsterers (Jon Skinner etc) do vinyl and leather replacement covers One member on here removed all the covering and polished the Ali. If you want a period radio it is easy to fill in the cut-out before re-covering. Old radios with modern facilities are available. Roger
Nigel Triumph
Park Lane Classics have a soft, flexible black vinyl that matches the Triumph original pretty well. They specialise in the small Triumphs and don't seem to offer kits for retrimming TRs, but will sell the vinyl according to their website: http://www.parklaneclassics.co.uk/A_Range_Vinyls.htm I used their kit with this exact vinyl to refurbish the crash pad on my GT6. It's sufficiently flexible to stretch around curves and has a nice soft feel. Owen at Park Lane is very helpful and I'm certainly pleased with the results. boogie
I had a modern stereo sized hole in mine. I've purchased a single-din storage adaptor that simply slides in. I've then fitted a usb outlet into the back of the adaptor so I've got a fully concealed charge point for my phone and a nice storage shelf to put my phone in.
cookie
I have recently used the TR Shop for a new cover for the centre console and is good. Have also renewed all the interior vinyl using the TR shop. All good quality. Dave
TRseks
I removed the vinyl cover and sanded the console somewhat to smoothen it, and painted it with black wrinkle paint. This was 6 years go and it has held up great, cheap option too. The aluminium ring is from a Moto Lita steering wheel, cost £10. Best thing in my opinion no one that doesn't know would suspect it's not original. The "before" picture: Edited March 20, 2019 by TRseks
IanClarke
Never would have thought of black crackle finish. Looks very good
Marc R
Just a point, not to be a purist, but for your information: - For the TR6 the specific shape of the central console w/ the foam w/ is w/ 2 specific flats zones (One on each side) in order to position the 2 trims panels (One on each side) covering the side and internal zone between the console center and the gear box cover (and able to support the option w/ side loudspeaker) - The Aluminum structure of the console Centre w/o the foam is w/o this 2 specific flats zones (I suppose the aluminum structure is the same for the TR4, 250, 5 and 6), accordingly in case you go for the solution Aluminum structure painted it will look like more a TR4, 250 or 5 but less a TR6 typical console centre Best regards
RogerH
Hi Marc, the TR4 support is uncovered from new. Just crackle painted Ali with no gearstick hole. The TR5/250 is the same as the TR6 - the gearstick hole is flat. On the TR4A the gearstick hole has the edge of the hole raised slightly. Roger

Roger Interesting info, I have always something to learn on this forum, please to check and to confirm (or correct),I need clarification to avoid potential mistake. On my side (and to be corrected if needed), as per my view: For the TR4, the console centre is with global short design on the top part and w/o extension to support the gear stick (vs the TR6) w/o molded cover (Foam + vinyl) and w/ flat spots for side panel For the TR4 A , I cannot comment right now For TR4 A IRS, the console centre is w/ basically the same aluminum frame as for the TR6 (Frame w/ extension to support the gear switch and gearstick hole flat) w/ a molded cover (Foam + vinyl) but w/o the flat spots for the side panel (not part of the configuration) For TR5 and 250, the console Centre is w/ basically the same aluminum frame as the TR6 w/ a molder cover (Foam + vinyl) but w/o (I have a doubt now) the flat spots for the side panel , as the sides panels (not part of the configuration) For the TR6, the console centre is the same aluminum frame as for the TR5 & 250 w/ a molded cover (Foam + vinyl) and w/ the flat spots for the side pane panel The holes position and number for the CP & CR differ w/ the CC & CF due to the specific interior light switch positioned in the middle just under the radio hole Regards Edited March 20, 2019 by Marc R
