Hi Steve,

A mate of mine has the kitted out GS1200, he loves it and did a 2-week tour in Spain and Portugal in the summer - his has the factory lower seat, lower suspension and shorter centerstand.

As for the tache, it was de rigueur to have a pornstar version in the 70s and 80's, but I kept it through to 2005; I have always been behind the fashion curve!

Cheers, Andrew

Steve w's posts above inspired me to find a good XL250, and now I've gone an added to the motorbike collection and bought a 1973 unrestored UK model Honda XL250 K0 Motosport with 10,280 miles from new and a great original number plate (UKX 73L), it comes complete with a set of NOS boxed mudguards and tank (fitted for the photos) - UK models are very rare as Honda only imported about 200 into the UK between 1972 - 73 and not many survive. It's due to be delivered in a few weeks.

Having now been medically retired from the Army, my plan moving forward since Bev sadly passed away on 30th December is to buy and restore classic motorbikes to keep me busy and focused. This means that TuRK (my 1958 TR3A) will be sold to make way for lifting ramps etc as neither of my boys want to take on the responsibility for it and want to start making their own memories of touring in VUX, my 1972 TR6.

The Honda 1970 Honda CB750 K1 is almost finished and will be the first out of the garage.......

Cheers, Andrew

Nice Honda Andrew.
I fancy the older xl250 I have an xl185 in the shed and not used for many years

last used in anger 2008 when I went green landing in Derbyshire with some big bikes whilst I was in between BMW gs bikes

i wish you the very best with your bike restoration plans .
doing what you love is  great for aiding your well being. Don’t be a stranger.

Just over a year ago the space where the 4A is contained a Velocette Venom, BMW R90/6 and a Fireblade - needed the space and money for the car - did I make the right decision ?

I needed the Africa Twin for a Trans-Americas ride I did in 2018: Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego; 24,500 miles, 14 countries, 5 1/2 months.

Nice collection of bike photos folks, it's amazing what motorbikes are tucked away in our garages alongside our TRs.

Hamish, I'm looking forward to doing a bit of green laning and off-roading, but I'll save the XL250 from that and may also buy a more suitable trail/enduro bike that I wouldn't mind if it got a bit bent getting down and dirty with it.

Jimbo, you just cant beat a bit of 'Omphaloskepsis' from time to time, it's better than staring into the Abyss.

Cheers, Andrew

Thats a very good plan Andrew. Like Steve, I have enjoyed restoring a couple of bikes since I finished the TR6 in 2018. First a 1976 Triumph Bonneville which I imported from the US, followed by a 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 500, also a US import but not imported by me. Enjoy riding both when the weather allows.

Hope so Sean, love the Bonnie - always fancied a T160 Trident and almost bought one new in 1976, crazy prices now though.

It’s only money Andrew. Since Covid came along, I’ve given up worrying about how much things cost. If you want it and can afford it, go for it.

Never truer words said Ian, and recent events have reinforced and shaped my outlook on life.

Hi,

for 6 years my BMWs have not been registered, since Friday they are again with freshly new made TÜV.

I guess now I have to drive them?

Yes, in the 90-ies I did some modifications on the black one....

Ciao, Marco

And soon to arrive...

The triumph (bought as a runner) has spent more time in bits than on the road. So far motorcycling has mostly been dangerous for my bank balance!

Lovely bikes Eli. I've seen you and them before, over on Triumphrat.

‘TV’ is not connected to an antenna, it’s connected to an Apple Tv providing access to youtube etc for ‘research’ :-)

internet connection is wifi to the house, works fine for Apple TV but i have an ‘ip over mains’ network for the cameras.

for the Scruffy Racer CB550 project youtube was invaluable for ‘how to’ videos !

My first lockdown project. To recover an an abandoned and dismanteld 1952 Ariel.

Sold my 1070 Bonneville in summer 2019 and thought I was finished with biking and then I saw an ad for this bike and as it was local I decided to have a look, fatal!

It left the UK in 1995 to go to Kenya, came to Ireland in 2004 and was stripped down and forgotten soon afterwards. Running nicely now after a bit of love and skint knuckles
