Tim T
The 5 that I am restoring was originally fitted with a soft top and at some point in the 70's was fitted with a Surrey top - all Stanpart units, steel top etc. When I removed to rear screen I found that the original rivnuts from the soft top installation were still in place. Would I be well advised to remove the rivnuts and will the studs on the backlight just need the securing nuts and washers as a direct replacement to secure the back screen? Stuart - you spotted the rivnuts when you saw the car. Appreciate your views. Many thanks Tim
stuart
From what I remember all they did was ran a drill through the existing rivnuts to affix the Surrey with them removed you do have a bit more wriggle room to adjust for a better fit., I use 1/2" Tap washers and a bit of Dumdum round each one to seal above the deck when fixing and use a flat and a spring washer.
