joinathanbrooks
I have a broken support wire in drivers seat and part number in BL parts catalogue not clear (UK RHD CP 50K+ prior to CF1 & CR1). It is the drivers seat of UK RHD and looking at the seat from the front it is in the top right and side. I have been trying to bend a replacement but not going well; anybody been here before and any help would be appreciated?
astontr6
Hi Jonathan, I do not know the size of that wire but it looks to me that heavy duty fencing wire would do the job? But you would need access to a welders torch to heat the wire up to orange in colour so that it can be bent to shape, with no aggro. Bruce.
Mk2 Chopper
Can you brace it with some steel and weld it? I did something similar in an old VW van seat some years ago
joinathanbrooks
In the end I bought some 3mm spring steel wire and made a wire forming tool with the help from a friend. All good now and seats look good in the car after all the original issues. Lesson learnt is to use a craftsman.
