What are the Differences between TR4A and TR250 Chassis?

Recommended Posts

Dave, would a 6 chassis not be a better easier swap and probably a lot newer?

+1.

And if you aquire a later TR6 chassis this would also have the advantage that all reinforcings are already included.

Dave,

I believe the TR4A chassis is different towards the back end. Where the TR5/250/6 chassis has a top breastplate at the narrow part of the chassis, the TR4A has a horseshoe type of pressed steel reinforcement instead.

Just look on Moss website for the pictures to see difference. Don't know if that horseshoe is attached to anything else, e.g. the diff front bridge and whether or not it can be removed/replaced with the TR250 top breastplate.

Don’t think the horse shoe bit is affixed to anything else but at the rear end the Tr6 has an additional  2 fixings to the tub on the rear seat area. Don’t know if TR 5 has the holes in rear seat but could easily be drilled and helps to stiffen up chassis.
