Charlie D
When I lived in Athens, in the early 1970’s ,I stopped at some traffic lights on the coast road and one of the most elegant, beautiful women imaginable, dressed in a flowing white gown, walked up to my white TR3a, stepped over the side, slid into the seat, and commanded: “Take me to the Venezuelan Embassy”. I turned my head and said, “Certainly Madam, but why do you want to go there?” In a totally expressionless voice she looked straight ahead and replied: “My father is the ambassador.” I was a 21-year-old kid. I thought my luck was in. When we arrived at the embassy I said: “Would you care to have dinner with me tonight?” In the same totally expressionless voice, and still without turning her head, she replied: “No”. Not even “No thank you, but thanks for the ride.” Just: “No” So, sometimes a TR can just be a Taxi. Charlie.
Tony_C
Thanks Charlie and happy to be proven wrong reading that.... Can’t help thinking though of how you must be forever thinking back: “If only....... the 3A had been a signal red one”? - Likely, you’d now be Venezuelan nobility! (Not to spoil your memories. Don’t know if you have been back to Athens recently? I’m going on Monday, it’s been a sad place, on a number of levels, for the past few years)
T Rusty
I know, I’ve got two. I give rides at various charity events, free, no taxi meter.
