You can put either DOT4 or DOT 5 in the clutch.

Or completely black as in my case! Replaced the rear slave cylinders, replaced the calliper seals flushed the lines and master cylinders through and refilled with dot 5. 

That was a couple of years ago and the fluid is still a nice purple colour.

Hi Brendan,

Dot5 is silicone and a sample will float on water.

Dot4 and Dot5.1  are glycol based and will dissolve in water.

Never confuse 5 and 5.1 !!
