Where did you drive to with your TR today

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was out on a garden fair / event today with my wife at "Schloss Langenburg".

A nice 55 miles drive there, met some friend there and had a loveley sunny day.

Luckily the family of Langenburg has a automoblmuseum since ages.

Featured by Porsche but right you see a Lotus, left a TR6 RHD and an Alvis open tourer.

My wife bought some plants for the garden and is lucky too.

Came back without any problem with the car.

Ciao Marco

Took my cousin out to lunch. She was born in 1918.   Tom

Lovely end to a lovely day. Crisp winter coastal run, and down to the beach for a stroll at sundown.  Happy new year all, Deggers

Getting new boots for the TR6 ready for the Round Britain regularity run. Slightly comical watching the tyre guys trying to lift the car. Not used to low cars with chassis.

Hi Roy,

Hamish is right, it is a 914/6 prototyp, designed 1970 by Albrecht Graf von Goertz as an order from Ferdinad Porsche.

First time I have seen it, but it is owned by the museum and seems to by always part of it's exhibition.

To find out more read this, sorry it's german from a swiss magazin.

Or see it on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPKxi7Jmpoc

Or google "Porsche 914/6 Goertz"

Ciao Marco

As long as they dont try jacking up under the sills you`ll be OK.

Stuart.

With the 4 yesterday to the large model aircraft show yesterday @ Much Marcle. Some fantastic models flying including real jet powered types such as a KLM Airbus! Also a third scale Bucker biplane which was truly superb. Next hobby?

Today, just back with the 4A from the Classic Motor Hub near Bibury which had some truly great cars on display & attending. Disappointing that I was the only 4 there amongst some MGB's! One highlight was a beautiful 1952 Corvette in as new condition. Super days!

Cheers.

Having filled up with Shell V-power @ £1.439 = £68.01 [That was for Monty!] we drove the route that Vicky had plotted out for next Sunday's Wessex Group Cream Tea Run.

We had to do a re-route due to one stretch having just been surface dressed with lots of loose chippings - didn't think that would be very popular if they hadn't hoovered them up by next Sunday! Then we discovered that one road we were planning to use would be closed due to the New Forest Marathon next week! However, consulting their website it appears that it will be reopened by the time we plan to use it!

Just goes to show the value of a recce! (and it gave me the chance to check the Halda is calibrated correctly). At least the distances will be accurate to 2 decimal places!

Anyway a nice day to pootle around the Forest - the heather is partiularly colourful this year - just hope the weather holds out for a week. :)

Tomorrow I'm taking the car for some pre-RBRR therapy to a well known TR specialist in Somerset ;)

That sounds a nice run Ben! Thanks for info re fuel! I think I was the victim of a Shell garage rip-off the other week! Closer price to the ordinary unleaded in your neck of the woods!

Took the 4A out this afternoon on the coast road to St Ives, wife and cocker on board and enjoying the late summer sunshine after what seems a week of fog and drizzle. All was well until Morvah when the engine died, I have become a little overconfident of late and did not carry a spanner of any description with me, my first thought was a fuel blockage and found the filter glass empty (inline), I removed the filter and with the radiator expansion tank hose fitted to the fuel pipe I managed blow clear the obstruction.

Our journey continued with me feeling quite pleased with myself even if I did smell of fuel.

From Lakeside Cumbria to Watermilom near Pooley Bridge via a 30 mile beautiful scenic route, and then on to Oban in Argyle and Bute in the afternoon arriving at about 17.45.
