Richard71
I'm still running-in a freshly re-built engine, Pi engine, +0.040" bores, fastish road camshaft, cylinder head modified with larger diameter valves, polished & ported and re-shaped combustion chambers. As said, I'm still running the engine in and done less than 100 miles, I have an oil catch tank fitted and noticed that it collects about a table spoon of almost pure water (not coolant) in under 30 miles. Not being too familiar with petrol engines let alone the Lucas Pi, I ask is this just the natural build up of condensation and nothing to be concerned about? Richard. Nick Jones
Yes, normal. Hopefully the volume may go down a bit over the next few hundred miles as the rings bed in and blow-by decreases. Nick
Mike C
I'd only worry if the oil showed signs of turning milky.
oldtuckunder
+1 Also shows the importance of getting oil hot to expel moisture, and why short journeys in classics are so damaging. Alan
Richard71
I would never have noticed if there wasn't a catch tank fitted. Anyway, thanks for the replies. Richard.
