westofsouth
Starting the TR this morning, heard the sound of petrol splashing on the garage floor. Petrol was dripping out of the control unit. Assume the end shaft seal in the metering unit has failed. Would others agree that this means that a new exchange metering unit is required? :-( Glad it didn't happen when I was driving...
Rob Salisbury
Or the fuel diaphragm, either way a rebuilt metering unit will be needed. (Check the fuel feed and return pipes first just in case they are leaking) Cheers Rob
Mike C
Probably fuel diaphragm , especially if the car has been stored for a while and the fuel has gone stale. I've replaced the fuel diaphragm in the past using instructions on this forum but make sure the replacement diaphragm is made of Viton or the problem will recur within hours. And if the fuel is stale I'd replace it as added insurance.
