RichyBarber
as part of my resto, I am replacing loom. In doing so what have others done with relays - I propose adding extra for fuel pump, high beam etc., but do I match the existing (old style) or replace them all as job lot ? ideas please.... barkerwilliams
I replaced all mine. The next owner will have no problems switching back to the original relays which I have retained. I also used only one type of relay with changeover contacts and a high current capacity so that all the relays on the car are one type and only one universal spare need be carried. The relays I used have clear plastic, sealed top cases and you can see to check for burnt contacts, they are also fitted with an internal LED when on which makes any fault-finding very easy. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-12V-100A-5-Pins-SPDT-Clear-Shell-Green-Light-Car-Automotive-Alarm-Relay-10pcs/362278877806?epid=0&hash=item545980fa6e:g:2MAAAOSweq5ats9R Alan Edited August 1, 2018 by barkerwilliams
Steves_TR6
Relays play an important role and quality varies... i’d recommend a quality brand such as Tyco/Heller/flosser/fiamm rather than generics. Steve
