Rodbr
Ok, I have a gearbox rebuilt by well known specialist. Tight as a drum changes and overdrive works as requested now I have fitted an original Lucas solenoid, replicas are rubbish and lasted less than 1000 miles before melting and frying itself. Also lever rattle now gone with rubber hose section mode and correct length spring and good pawl. My issue is as follows: when selecting reverse the gear lever seems to go over centre and select nothing. It appears to be in the correct position on the gate but got a boot full of nothing. De-select and re-select reverse and into reverse ok ish. Any suggestions what issue could be. It's almost like there is no stop for the lever to select reverse. Thanks Rod
Drewmotty
Sounds like the reverse gear bell crank could be sloppy inside the box. Get the tunnel off, remove the selector cover and take a peek.
