Another MOT under my belt

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

do you remember just a few short years ago when after a successful MOT you received a very neat, fancy certificate.

Multi-coloured, water marks and all the info there.

This changed to a more simple affair printed locally.

Today my 4A had a TRouble free MOT and for that I received a very cheap piece of paper that simply had PASS on it.

No space for advisories or test info.

There was a small chitty stapled to it with emissions etc but not a lot.

However the Testing man questioned the mileage thinking that it was wrong.

I had a look and said it looked about right. 16,000 miles this last year.

Hi Roger

Good to see you're still having it MOT'd..but as you say it's a rubbish certificate compared to the old ones. Just from a laser printer..

I also had my mileage queried but only cos it showed 100 odd miles..modern cars don't go round the clock these days like they used to!

A pass with flying colours yesterday for the 4A but yes Roger what a miserable piece of paper I received! But then only a miserable 900 miles covered in a year! My excuse is that I am lucky to have 2 cars though, to 'spread' the mileage!

Cheers.

It’s the same with driving licenses isn’t it?

I’ve still got a collection of mine from the 1960’s. Little red cloth covered books.

And then there was the “AA book”. I think every year my dad was sent one through the post when he renewed his membership. Maps, town plans and all sorts of information. Brilliant for keeping us kids in the back happy looking at car nameplates and finding out where they had come from.

Today all you get is a letter saying thank you for your direct debit payment. (And the AA man does not even salute you as he passes on his motorbike and side car…)

Happy days.

Charlie.
