barry p cook
It had been my intention to re-cover the original seats in my TR4a using a kit from the usual suppliers but after sitting in a friends car that had MX5 seats I changed my mind. A pair of good condition Mk2 seats were picked up cheaply off eBay and today I collected the re-upholstered seats. Really pleased with them and can't wait to fit them. Only problem is there is still some work to do before I can do that. As most of the upholsterers mentioned on the forum are in the South I decided to do some searching for one more local to me. I found a guy on eBay who specialises in MX5 seats. He's turned out to be a really useful find. He now has my H frame, switch panel and crash pads and so will report back on how he gets on with them. He is based in Chorley and his website is geesartisanupholstery.co.uk No connection just a very satisfied customer. Barry
bob-menhennett
Barry He made a nice job of the seats for you. Keep cracking on with the car , it will be fantastic when it's finished. It looked really good when I popped in recently. Regards , Bob
Tr4aJim
Barry, those are the same seats I have in my TR4a. Luckily they were in great condition and I didnt have to recover them. My wife and I find them very comfortable plus the safety of the headrests. Good luck with yours! Jim Edited July 4, 2018 by Tr4aJim
Geko
No connection just a very satisfied customer. Barry Easily "satisfied" I would say. Sorry but this is a lousy job to put it squarely.
tim hunt
That's a bit harsh Stef, after all Barry's happy. The Mazda seats look good in your car Jim. Seven years ago I picked up an excellent pair of early US TR6 high backed seats from an ad in TRaction. The headrests hinge forward allowing easy access to the stowage area and they fit straight onto the existing runners which just have to be drilled to accept the required catch plates. Tr4aJim
Tim, thanks! Barry, those seats look good to me, enjoy them! Jim
aleda
Hi Barry - they look really good and comfortable. It's great when you find someone whose work you're pleased with. I was the same when I found Millrace to refurb my dashboard as the veneer was peeling and breaking. My original seats are on the list for refurb next year. cubehopper
I know people have a right to do what ever suits them with their cars, and I know that to some comfort is a must, but no-one will ever be able to convince me that MX5 seats look right in a TR,no matter how well they have been reupholstered, still as I said each to their own Dave
tim hunt
As you say Dave, each to their own, I believe there are even some who don't like magenta Tr6s! Tim

harrytr5
Looking at all the TR's that have fitted them, they are starting to look normal and stock. Regards Harry.
Tr4aJim
Barry, I forgot to mention that I used these custom mounts to fit the Miata seats to my TR4a - http://www.pattonmachine.com/Miata-Brackets.htm They bolt right in using the exiting mounting holes, and are very well made. The only drawback to you would be the cost of shipping from the US. Anyway, worth a look. BTW - they also sell a throttle body injection kit that I’ve read several good reviews on, if you’re interested in that sort of mod. Jim
DaveN
As you say Dave, each to their own, I believe there are even some who don't like magenta Tr6s! Tim +1 mines blue and I don’t like that either! I do have MX5 seats though.
