RobG
Hi, I am straying from my normal TR4 Forum but I have a conundrum for you all. When I purchased my TR4 box of bits a few items came along which I cannot identify as TR4. The front bumper is an example. Photos attached. My TR4 has bolt holes at the extreme ends but this bumper does not, just curves around smoothly, no holes. Checking my Bill Piggott (excellent) book I see that the TR3A has very similar bumpers. So my question is: Is this a TR3A bumper ? Very shiny and nicely chromed, little surface rust. Any Interest ? RobG Edited June 10, 2018 by RobG
G Denson
Hi RobG Sorry I can't help you with your picture problem. I am the same, these new fangled machines are also beyond me!! As far as the bumper is concerned I have just had a good look at mine. It is attached to the bumper bar iron with a chrome bolt on the outer side and via the over-rider on the inner. The outer hole is 8 1/2" from the end of the bumper and the inner 18" The total length of the bumper is 64 1/2" and the curve is 4". If these measurements don't match up it can't be from a 3A, unless mine is wrong!! Trust this helps with your conundrum,or does it add to it? Cheers Gordon
RobG
Gordon, Thanks for the measurements. Mine is 66" curving the tape measure around the bumper. Assuming the same method my holes are 14" and 21.5", again around the bumper from the end. Not a straight line from the side. Pictures now sorted via my old digital camera. stuart
4a bumper as the overrider holes are different spacing to TR4. Stuart.
RobG
Stuart, But all the TR4 and TR4A bumpers have the hole at the far end of the bumper and this one does not, please see picture 2 in first post. That is from seeing cars on the road and in Bill Piggott book. This is why I thought was from an earlier car with no holes on the end. RobG

RobG Could be but it would be narrower, dont have one here to check at the moment. Stuart.
RobG
I still reckon this is a TR3A original bumper and I am about to dump it. Any TR3A owners in Surrey/Sussex area are welcome to have a look and confirm and if they want it to make a reasonable offer will be fine. I am not posting it ! I also have a brand new handbrake gaiter unused. Edited August 4, 2020 by RobG
BlueTR3A-5EKT
Looks like it could be 3A. The only other bumper I recall fitting like that was Hillman Imp but that was 'flatter' than the TR one. Peter W
