instrument Voltage Regulator

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Think I have few issues on this, ie no fuel or temp gauge. Is simple test, to see if I get 10v off the I for instrument terminal?` Also if knackered is it lucas replacement or another more modern one?

Thanks

Rich

It pulses the 12 to 14V in order to give an average of 10V. A DVM will jump all over the place while an analogue voltmeter will pulse and a small bulb will blink. Any of these will indicate operation is probably correct.

(The 10V regulator is an electro-mechanical switch-mode voltage regulator!)

Cheers, Richard

Hi

Racking my brain cells from my apprenticeship in electrons I am considering to go for the buck step down module.

It will keep the voltage rock steady regardless of the input voltage (as long as the input voltage is above 10,5V)

Secondly, they are more efficient than the LM2940, meaning less heat.
