Clutch Release Bearing Grease

Recommended Posts

In the March Issue of TRAction was a very interesting article on suitable oils for gearboxes and overdrives.

I wonder if there is similar advice for modern greases suitable for clutch release bearings?

Hello David,

why do you want to grease a clutch release bearing? They are closed bearings and do not require greasing.

Or am I missing something?

Hi David,

is it the splined shaft that you are thinking of.

I used the supplied tube of 'red' grease applied lightly to the splines.

Hi David,

if you are using the PhosyBronxe sleeve then it shouldn't need lubrication.

If you are using the steel sleeve then the Red grease will work there. Don't use too much.

I was told not to use grease where there is dust as the grease attracts the dust and makes a nasty paste.

Try graphite powder. or other dry film lubricant. https://www.inoxia.co.uk/products/chemicals/elements/graphite-powder

You can also rub it on your wiper blades as a lubricant.
