Waldi
If you take a close look at the weld fracture line, you can maybe see the original position? New shafts are not expensive, but will mean a gearbox-out. Regards, Waldi

Waldi
Hi Cameron, not sure if possible under the car, but if you can remove most of the old weld to make a (kind of) weld preparation, the repair will be better. Question is why the weld broke in the first place. Can you make a picture? Several possible causes. Cheers, Waldi

Andy Moltu
Pull the box out - welding it in situ may not be too good for the casing.
Mike C
Pull the box out - welding it in situ may not be too good for the casing. And shaft bushes.
Waldi
Hi Cameron, Looks like it has been weld-repaired before. I agree with Mike and Andy, best to pull the gb out. I would not attempt to weld it, a new shaft with welded fork is sheap, think I had mine from Moss, and it was good. At the same time, you can check/replace the tapered pin in the fork and reinforce with an additional roll pin or similar, as this is a weak point too.
