New to Me 62 TR4 Project

Recommended Posts

Hi Tush, very professional video, great excitement in picking up a new project.

You seem to have your hands full anyway.

Are there still bargains to be had out there, the UK is running out !

Cheers,

Conrad.

Tush -

Interesting - it has an early (short bulge) bonnet but

the rest of the early features don't seem to be there,

so guessing it's the bonnet that is 'out of place'.

Short bulge did go to CT6429 and the domed instruments went to CT11307 (L/Hand drive) The black centre gauge panel went from CT4399 sliding boot stay started at CT5643 so the bonnet would be correct.

For sure, there are lots of bargains out there and cars hidden away in barns that haven't seen the light of day for many years...not so much of a bargain though at the end of the restoration though with the amount of money spent IF it is restored well. Better to buy one that's already been done, but what's the fun in that? :-)

As long as you understand going into it that you are not likely to get out of it what you have into it, you are ok ....I do it because I love it!

Cheers

Stuart, (and anoraks!)

I am well aware of your greater hands-on experience in these

matters

But

I have never seen anything to suggest the short bulge bonnet

was continued as far as CT 6429 LHD and I am as sure as I can

be that domed full-face instruments were continued to about

CT 18,000 (and have owned a couple of LHD TR4s that are

consistent with that).

I never never seen anything ex-factory that suggested the sliding

boot stay, short bulge bonnet (or chromed rear cockpit trim or lack

of boot badge) changed at anything other than the listed CT 4229

change point.

That is NOT to say you are wrong - just saying that I've never seen

anything from the factory to suggest otherwise.

It could well be that the CT 4229 change point was a convenient

point for the factory to combine and show (retrospectively, for

the Parts Book) changes in those items.

Above change points taken from well known reference books though they could be wrong too,who knows after all this time.

Looks cool. I like the white dash and white hood combination. Is the frame solid?

Hi Andrew, yes I'm a big fan of the white dash. I'm looking forward to restoring it and getting it back to original condition. I quite like the white weather gear as well.

Never thought I'd own a red triumph :-)

Cheers

Tush
