AlanT
I'd be interested how it got like this? Because you are missing the field coil and you have quite a few bits that don't belong to this. If you had a field coil it would be quite easy to put this back together and I would expect it to work more or less straight away. If you took it to bits like this then you should be able to get it back. So the first question is do you have a field coil?
AlanT
And the second question is: Do you have a pole-piece? This bolts to the black-painted square body and holds the field-coil. And one more: Is the gear stamped with a number. It will be on the round plate, near the crank-pin. AlanT
These items are part of the motor: These are NOT part of the motor but are the fixing studs that hold it to the car. Obviously the rubbers need replacing: And these are all part of something else, don't know what!
Charlie D
Looking at Alan T’s last picture: The bit at the top, with the blue/red/white wires would, I guess, be part of a dip switch. The bent/twisted black bracket on the left I’d be interested to know about myself. I found one the other day and am curious to know what it does. Charlie D.
AlanT
130 degree IS the correct gear for a TR3/3A. And fortunately I do have spare field-coils and pole-pieces that are suitable for this. Pole-pieces were originally line-bored and don't always interchange between motors very well. So I usually keep hem in sets. But usually can find one than works OK.
peejay4A
The twisted bracket looks like it might be the crankcase snorkel support.

Charlie D
Pete, Bob and Alan,That actually makes sense.I’m missing the support for my snorkel.I’d been looking for a flat piece, as in most of the parts diagrams. (Although I could not actually understand how a flat piece would fit.)It seems like there were two or three different versions of the snorkel, according to Mr Rimmer. If it were not so cold I’d go and fit it now.(That is if I can find it again…)Thanks for sorting that out(And sorry BubiD for hijacking your thread, although I guess you needed to know this too.)Charlie D. Alec Pringle
Hello BubiD, items can be returned to Germany easily and cheaply (and reliably!) via Interparcel, using their UPS service link - https://uk.interparcel.com/ It's around £20 for something the weight of a wiper motor, insured. Cheers, Alec

Charlie D
Glad it’s too cold to try to fit it to the snorkel then! I’ve looked at the spares books and I can’t actually see where it goes on the dash/column. (BubiD…. I hope you are paying attention to all this…) Charlie D.
Charlie D
And just for the record… The black plastic bit with the wires coming out, that I thought might be part of a dip switch is: LUCAS DIP SWITCH 21SA 31800B AUSTIN MORRIS MINI MGA BMC LANDROVER S1/11 TR3 TR4 (And that includes the two drilled out brass rivets to the rh side in the photo) I only know because I’ve just spotted one on eBay.
