Triumph Car Dealers

Recommended Posts

I have been writing articles about Triumph car dealers for some time now. I have a blog where you can read and comment: http://vitessesteve.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/TriumphCarDealers

Eyles and Eyles of Oxford were the feature business of article number 50 and included this image from Standard Triumph Review of September 1967.

I used to contribute to a thread on this forum that has unfortunately been moved into the club members only area so please excuse me if you thought I was ignoring it.

Plea for information
If you have any more information or recollections about Eyles and Eyles or Eyles & Coxeter Ltd of Oxford or any other Triumph dealer, photos of window stickers, dealer badges or sill plates etc please let me know. I can be contacted via the comments to this post or via my facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/TriumphCarDealers/?

Hi Steve

You might be interested in the find pictured below at a local car show, of a sill plate I came across quite by chance for the Triumph dealer Clark & Lambert of Eastbourne.

It's got some sentimental value to me. When Willetts, the Jaguar/ Renault dealer in Eastbourne where my cousin Phil Reid and myself both began our apprenticeships, was bought out in 1971 by Caffyns Ltd, we were despatched to different garages owned by Caffyns to continue our apprenticeships. Phil went to Clark & Lambert on Triumph and Rover, whilst I went to Caffyns on MG/ Austin/ Morris/Wolseley etc.

In February 1972 Phil was killed in a Rover 2000 that Clark & Lambert had loaned to him to go on a factory course at Triumph Coventry, so anything Clark & Lambert is a nice piece of memorabilia for me of those times we shared and the chats we had about the cars we worked on.

Phil was a lovely lad and I thought that he should deserve a mention as he was a Triumph enthusiast and worked on many a Triumph TR.

Kevin

Thanks for these images.  On looking at my collection I see you have shared some images with me before and they now feature in blog posts.

Here is another version of Puttocks Ltd key fob.
