4-1 V8 headers

If I would have done the engineering on this engine I would have offset the water ways from the chain housing so if there is a leak, you get a visible evidence "outside" the engine. The current configuration can leak to the inside and you won't know.

As I found on the Web, leaks to the inside are not rare.

The housing is now back in place, with a self made gasket and also Dirko.

Yes, the engine is from John Eales.

The beast is running. The downside - primaries are too long with 32". I shorten them to 26".

How have you arrived at the conclusion that they are too long Christian ?

I have a dyno sheet from that engine on which it is pulling through to 7k.

Carbs are not changed, fuel pressure at high speed is okay, ignition is doing well, no pinking or knocking.

The only difference is the exhaust.

The dyno man says, as the power is recovering from 6,5k onwards, it must be a pulsing related issue that the engine don't get writ of exhaust gases between 5,9-6,4k and overriching.

He thinks the engine has big cam and the primaries are designed for a small 310° cam. If the cam has 320 or 330 degree the pipes are too long.

This week I will head down to Le Castellet in south France to the first season race.

For me it is not so much a race, it is again testing under real conditions.

Especially the roof spoiler is of interest to me.

Is it of any use or just drag or looks only?
