james christie
Anybody know where I can buy the rubber boot for an A type Overdrive solenoid without having to buy the solenoid as well ? I object to paying £34 for both. James
Lebro
https://www.balljointboots.co.uk/ any good ? Bob
RogerH
Hi James, I had the same problem. In the end i used a blue nytrile glove finger (ordinary garage glove). I cut a finger off and (middle one I think) and fitted it over the plunger. A bit fiddly but it worked. Roger
Lebro
Sounds a bit drastic - cutting off a finger, did it hurt ? Bob.
Fireman049
Moss catalogue no. 109521. (Page 33). Tom.
iain
Good spot Tom....but at £17.25 Rogers finger is a much cheaper option! Iain
AlanT
Heatshrink tube brought to size. Fill about 8mm at one end with Polyurethane sealant. OBVIOUSLY don't fill up the switch mechanism.
RogerH
Hi Alan, the little boot needs to be very flexible. Hi Bob, the cost of a new one is like an anaesthetic - no pain at all. Roger
james christie
I think I might have found something at Denis Welch Motors. Part No ELS157 includes plunger and gaiter for an A Healey overdrive which I think is the same, at £3.04 plus VAT. But their site isn't too user friendly and has given me brain fade. I think I will tackle the problem by phone in the morning James
