TwinCamJohn
Have just come back from this event in Eastern France starting at La Bresse. Thursday vérifs and then at 16.00 first car away for the Prologue. A mix of Maps,régularité,roadbook, arrêtes de poisson etc. It's a good taster for the following days. Thursday night a marvellous buffet at the hôtel in La Bresse; Early start with briefing at 07.30 and first car away at 08.00. We were #32. Weather cold and wet so reluctantly sidescreens were needed. Roads very slippery in the forests with leaves and running water. Back to the warmth of the hôtel and a good dinner. Sunday , much of the same with the finish at a ski station above La Bresse. Car went well although the shut plate on the navigator's side shattered so we had to hold it closed with an elastic. Finished just into the top twenty (must do better) This is the 17th year I have done this event with my pal Dominique and it is not to be missed. First time with the TR3A though. Much enjoyed the overdrive on 2nd and 3rd ! 10 hour drive back so a bit tired . Here are a few pics. Hamish
Thanks for sharing. Looks fun but complicated to my simple mind. Love the pictures H
nowtelse2do
Love the picture's and love the area along with the Alsace, great TR country. Were any of the other TR's any higher than you? Dave
TwinCamJohn
In the prologue the TR4 was above us but in the rallye proper we were the first of the three Triumphs entered. What do you find complicated Hamish ? Was it the style of the rallye ? It's nice to have a change and do different events. My favourite is the Rally de Portugal Historico. Only roadbook, no tricks, and the fastest régularité in Europe (I think). Too quick for the TR and I struggle in my MK 1 Escort Twin Cam.
Hamish
The complication is maps, routes, timing. Remembering left and right ?!?!? You know the technical stuff ????
Ben Freer
The complication is maps, routes, timing. Remembering left and right ?!?!? You know the technical stuff ???? Nah you just need a good navigator so you can concentrate on the driving ???? I'm lucky I guess as I married one!????
TwinCamJohn
The problem is finding a regular navigator. At least it has been for me recently.. This year has been particularly difficult and so motorsport has been curtailed. A house move, ongoing hasn't helped either. I hope it looks up for 2018. If they are not french then I would want them to have a reasonable grasp of the language to be able to deal with marshalls and briefings etc. I want to concentrate on the driving and the car and not be translating all the time ! Hamish
The problem is finding a regular navigator. At least it has been for me recently.. This year has been particularly difficult ! Thats where Ben is such a savvy operator. He obviously signed up a great navigator into a lifetime contract. Little did she know !!!!
