I have been waging war on leaks of any fluid on my 3A and have been working my way forward from the rear axle, to the gear box and am now starting on the engine block. The block breather is only an "interference" fit, metal to metal and pi**es oil out.

Has anybody got an oiltight (modern) solution ?

+2 PTFE tape wrapped around to whatever thickness you need.

Thanks for your interest in my problem.

Mick,

I should have said that the block is in situ, so I'm not sure that there is enough wiggle room between it and the chassis to get it back in with the ptfe tape in one piece.

What sealant are you guys using?

Mine was only a push fit accessed in situ

But the upside down u bend had been cut off. I just have about 9" vertices pipe. It's damn nearly the same size a plummets 28mm copper pipe.

I used a gasket sealant to seal it to the block when I was fitting the oil breather catch tank.

It's an open system so shouldn't be under pressure.

"The breather is out on the bench"

Should be able to get a couple of winds of PTFE on it then, easy fix.
