Bill.P.
I am very sorry to have to say that my old friend, early TR expert and all round good bloke John Saunders died on Sunday 10th Sept at the nursing home in Wiltshire where he had been cared for for some months, ever since he had a debilitating stroke in 2016. John had been a TRR member since 1972 and was a founder of the White Rose group (originally called South Yorkshire group) I will be helping put together an obituary for him that will appear in TRaction in due course. Tom Boyd
Very sad news. Have known John for 20+ years. His knowledge was well known, very nice guy RIP John Tom
Alec Pringle
A great and sad loss, to the sidescreen world in particular - John was a thoroughly decent bloke, and one of the great all round TR enthusiasts . . . . . I say that having known him for some 40-odd years. We tend to think of John in terms of TR2s, and early cars at that, but way back in 1980 he was a vocal supporter of our efforts to assist the TR8 Turbo Le Mans, it was still a Triumph and a TR and he was up for the TR Register. I'm only sorry that my own health limitations did not enable me to catch up with him over the past year, my fault for not trying hard enough . . . . . object lesson there, do it now not later. Rest in peace John. Cheers Alec

RogerH
Hi Folks, I only ever met John a few times and that was usually if he bumped into me whilst walking along somewhere thinking about the next problem. I don;t think he was a genius (naturally mad people) but was deeply intent on what he was doing - and that I think was his forte. He would go into something 100% and the world would pass by. A good few years ago at an IWE at Malvern he need to move a TR6 backwards out of one of the sheds where the London Group bring & Buy was sorting out the stock. He did get the TR out of the shed. Sadly the pair of TR6 wings behind the car didn;t fare too well. But hey ho the dents knocked out. A big loss to the TRR knowledge base and a big loss to many friends he had. fezzsarecool
only just read bills sad news of john , I like many had known him for many years , always chatting at tr events , the funniest being when we meet a few years ago at the triumph spares day in Coventry, when he said" you wont believe it theres another john saunders here, here he is"!!! the second guy then pointed out theres another ,and before long there were 6 of us , was surreal all the same name and all triumph nuts, once he were chatting about former employees of the Berkley sq garage and I happened to know one who lived just a mile away from me, and sent his phone number to john, sadly so many of our old register members are no more, johns passing is a loss to all his family and friends, john (saunders)
