andrewsjwg
I am about to get the O/D overhauled, it wails on use. The Haynes manual says I have to remove the gearbox to remove the overdrive unit. Is that so? I was planning to send it to Overdrive Repair Service in Sheffield. Any comments gratefully received
RogerH
Hi Andrew, if you have an 'A' type OD then it is best to remove GB and OD together. Let ORS separate them . I understand that the 'J' type can be re-attached to the GB insitu. I'm sure 0ther will give better info. Roger
openroad
Hi Andrew, give them a call, I have never used them , but they are my next port of call... Alot of good words spoken about them. I am sure they will help you out, Cheers, Conrad,
AlanT
Not very hard to get an A-type off a gbox. Could you do it in the car. Possibly. BUT You will never get it back with the gbox in the car. It's pretty tricky with the gbox out and standing vertically. I'd recommend anybody rebuilding a gbox or OD to make a test-rig to run it out of the car. Here is mine: Just a wooden box and an electric motor. AlanG
I have removed and refitted J type in situ. No problem. Alan.
