As far as I know all early wiper wheel-boxes have the same number of teeth on the gear.

So that all the wheel-boxes originally intended to work with DR1, DR2 and DR3 motors will sweep the same angle, with the same wiper-motor gear.

With the 14W motor, like on TR6, different gear ratios apply. So if you put a 14W TR6 motor in a TR4/4A, and this is commonly done you have to mess with motor-gear and wheel-boxes, to get the sweep correct.

So the question is what kind of motor were these wheel-boxes designed for.

Differences, and there is a huge variety of wheel-boxes, are to do with shaft length and the angle of the mounting rubbers.

In other words it's about the fit to the body and the rake angle of the screen.

As Alan has written - which motor are you using? The original square bodied one?

How may teeth are on the gear of your wheel boxes.? 72761D is the same as 72761A for my money, probably made at different times - do they look identical?

Photo please would help us.

According to this ebay seller the 72761 is a TR6 type wheel box for use with the round bodied Lucas 14W wiper motor.
