pjenky29
Hi there, I am looking to have the engine from my TR4a rebuilt (along with the gearbox) and would ask if anyone can highly recommend any specialist they have used over the past few years - preferably in the Oxfordshire/Berkshire area - although not essential if it's the right person. If anyone has had a full new rebuild, an indication on cost and time it took? Obvosuly every case is individual, but a ballpark would be nice to know. Thanks in advance Paul

TR5tar
Protek in Wallingford would do a great job for you, or you might want to try Classic and Modern in Bracknell. Our group leader, Robert Longstaff, used Classic and Modern for the rebuild of his TR5's engine. He said that if you do contact them for a quote, mention his name and you'll get a better price! Here's the firm's site: http://cmesuk.com/ I've no direct experience of Classic and Modern myself, other than Robert's recommendation, so do shop and around and research the best deal. TR4A1965
Hi Paul. I used CCK Historic based in Sussex (Worth the drive). You can see may engine rebuild here: http://tr4a.weebly.com/engine-rebuild-at-cck-historic.html It cost £4650 but included in that are a few shiny bits that I organised. (I like bling) There is a full list of all of the work done on the website page. I can't tell you how pleased I am with the result. My engine has loads of poke. I have another 2000 miles to go before the next service on it and we will be putting it back on the Rolling Road to see what increase in BHP we achieved from standard. CCK has a small motor museum that features a TR4. CCK also look after many classic race cars and in my opinion compared to others that offer such services offer great value for money. I think the great thing about them was they said the engine would be built and ready to go on a certain date and it was. Best wishes. Paul
