G Denson
Good morning All I have recently acquired an original glass bottled Lucas screenjet washer, very cheap on a car boot sale. After fitting it worked perfectly but very soon stopped spraying water. On careful inspection it appears that the plastic container at the bottom of the shaft fills up with water and the pump still works but no water comes through. The water seems to seep through the rubber washer which is at the bottom of the shaft and the rubber itself is very hard. I have as yet not tried to extract the washer as I don't know whether I can get a replacement or indeed if this is the problem. The questions I need advice on are;- 1. Should the plastic container fill up with water. 2. If not can you get replacement rubber washers,if so,where from. 3. Is there a firm that specialises in repairs to Screenjet washers. I hope someone has an answer to this little puzzle of mine. Thanks in anticipation. Gordon
G Denson
Good morning All I have solved the puzzle Firstly the plastic container should fill up with water to be able to pump it out to the screen washers. The problem was that the internal components namely the carbon brushes and the copper pick-up below the wire coils were black and corroded and obviously not conducting enough power to work the motor to pump the water, but enough to merely turn the motor itself. After a lot of fiddly work cleaning all the miniature parts and all contacts so that carbon (not crud) came into contact with copper (not black tarnish) the system works......Yippee,Success!!!! A good investment of £7.50 at a car boot, despite all the work to fix it. Cheers Gordon

BlueTR3A-5EKT
Great Stuff The pain now will be changing the oil filter with the washer bottle bracket in the way.....unless you put it in the passenger footwell, as I have toyed with. Peter W
