Gary Flinn
Copied and pasted this clip from a 1968 Music Video from the CT Site. Interesting Bonnet stripes. Are they TR5's or TR250's?
mleyland
I'd say they're 5s. Badge cluster on the boot looks like it has an injection one in there, and bonnet badge looks wide at top (250s are other way up) Very groovy though
Tom Fremont
French TR5s it is said.. Clears up a mystery for me: some have claimed that the valance behind the grille on white cars was painted black. Not this one . Interesting about the stripes, though - couldn't be TR250 envy . Cheers, Tom

Gary Flinn
French TR5's then it would seem, I wonder if any survive? I quite like the Stripe, very 1960's!
Alfrom
Certainly one of them is French - check out the Paris registration plate at about 1min10sec
250
"Round gear knob at 2:00 min. 250`s came with those leather coated ones, I presume." Not necessarily my 250 has a round knob which is original fitment, Mark. Edited November 1, 2016 by
james christie
All have yellow lights (imposed by the German occupant and only suppressed in the early nineties) thus French. The site is Montlhéry James
snowric
it really is one of the worst pop videos i have ever seen. even the TR5s fail to lift the tawdry cheapness of the whole thing. still it is a good match for the 'song'. as for the waving at the end, lord i am lost for words. btw couldnt see any rust or paint runs on them yet......still it was only 1year in... Interesting about the stripes, though - couldn't be TR250 envy . Cheers, Tom Tom, I know for a fact that earlier TR4s in White had the area behind the grille painted black. Cannot say for sure if this was gloss, matt or satin. I do NOT have definite information on 4As or 5s (or 6s) but it would be good to have comments. Stuart ?? stuart
5`s and 6`s had the area behind the grill black painted but I think 4a`s were just the white ones, difficult to say for sure as you rarely see one in any sort of good enough original form these days. Stuart. Stuart - My comment was deliberately related to earlyish TR4s - something I can comment on, from direct knowledge of two previously unrestored TR4s. I don't know about later cars, but if (white) 5s and 6s were painted black behind the grille, it seems likely that ALL white TRs were treated the same way. The alternative would be two changes - first to discontinue the black behind the grille, then another to re-introduce it. That alternative does seem unlikely, but not definitive. graeme
There are period pictures in the latest TRAction which show an original white TR4A with what appears to be black behind the grill and I have photos of my original 4A taken in '73 with black behind the grill. Anyway it looks better IMHO. Cheers Graeme
