Up to the TR6 the two-eared versions were used exclusively. During the run of the TR6, they were dropped (probably following the activities of Ralph Nader in the USA) in favour of a large hexagon, requiring a very large spanner plus mallet. Posted September 7, 2016 Report Share Posted September 7, 2016 I thought -- based on no source that I can recall or reference -- that continental regulations in Europe led to the use of octagonal over eared knockoff spinners.
