RogerH
Hi Adrian, welcome to the forum. I have a Halfords HCB072 in my 4A and it works very well. They do many others with the posts in different places biased rearwards or forwards Not cheap but very good. Made by Bosch. http://www.halfords.com/motoring/bulbs-blades-batteries/car-batteries?startIndex=21&tabNo=1&pgId=2 Roger Edited August 29, 2016 by RogerH

My car has a power hungry original starter, and ofter requires a bit of cranking to start from cold. So the halfords calcium 072 battery has been tested thoroughly! They think that their terms and conditions override UK law. Edited August 29, 2016 by wjgco

TR5tar
Hi Adrian, I put an Optima Redtop on my 5 (815 cca,100ah) . . . https://www.tayna.co.uk/Optima-Red-Top-Battery-RTS-4.2-P8903.html It's pretty pricey, but the battery has performed very well for me. And I didn't have any issues with Tanya's service myself. Cheers, Darren Edited August 29, 2016 by TR5tar
peejay4A
Does anyone have a link to the black Varta 069. The only ones I can find are white/silver.
TR5tar
How about this one Pete . . .https://advancedbatterysupplies.co.uk/product/heavy-duty-069/
peejay4A
Thanks Darren. It's black but not a Varta.
TR5tar
Apologies Pete. I'd been searching around for Varta 069 batteries, and that one came up, but I'd missed it wasn't actually Varta. That'll teach me to do things too early in the morning, which clearly 11.47 is

monty
I have had a Varta Blue for several years bought from Battery Megastore. Good battery & faultless service.
