rhine
Morning all! Had a go at removing the large yellow metal drain plug from my A type overdrive - just to check and clean the filter, but think bonded in my time and neglect, and is reluctant to budge. Any tips before I start to think of lump hammers and cold chisels? This is part 821812 on P55 of the current Moss catalog, and is 50GBP! So is this a left hand thread? Unlikely me thinks? Gentle heat? Just get on with it? Thanks, Richard
RogerH
Hi Richard, can't find your part number do you mean item 80 http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/tr5-6/clutch-transmission-drivetrain/overdrives-components/ee3134.html It is a right hand thread. There is a special spanner for it but not necessary. Use a hammer and a soft metal (or hard wood) drift. Roger
stuart
Correct Spanner listed 3/4 of the way down this page on the left. http://www.overdrive-repairs.co.uk/buy-spares.php?cat=A%20Type%20Spare%20Parts%20List Stuart.
Andy Moltu
O/D services Sheffield had them on sale at Lincoln but are easy enough to undo and tighten with a suitable drift and a mallet.
rhine
Thanks all, yes that is the item http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/plug-oil-drain-521814.html?assoc=125254 Have some hardwood blocks and a big hammer, so just need to be bold!
