Another problem: overheating

Recommended Posts

I will start by checking the gauge is correct. Can I do that at home, or do I need to send it to a specialist?

For once, an easy job on a TR, provided you have the original thermostat. Basically, it's nothing more than removing the whole sender, the line next to the block towards the thermostat en and the gauge itself. Then, act like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkwJoLBGr9Q

Make sure you DON'T bend the line between the gauge and the thermostat! Use a proper thermometer and be sure to set the units in F or C. Operating temp for my car is with the needle just touching the '1' of the '185' mark. When hot or in traffic, it will rise up to touching the '8'.

Please make a video of it and post it here or on YT. I couldn't find one for the TR.
