Richardtr3a
After waiting weeks for the car to come back from the body shop. I have completed the lights, badges and bumper fitting. So I fired up the engine to drive out of the garage. The engine is starting well but there was no clutch pedal. I have replaced these rubber seals before but always with help at the air bleeding stage. There is no one near to help so I am asking for recommendations for solo bleeding kits. Has any one had success in bleeding the clutch on their own? My wife has a broken leg and the dog's legs are too short. Richard & H.
Nigel A
Hi Richard Really sorry to hear Penny has broken her leg I used a vizibleed kit about £4 for brakes and clutch, no problems doing it alone Cheers Nigel
Stevecross
Richard It is possible to bleed the clutch on your own without any special equipment. From underneath the car first make sure the slave cylinder is fitted with the bleed nipple uppermost. Disconnect the pushrod from the clutch lever then grab the pushrod and push it back into the cylinder while slackening the bleed nipple, lock the nipple before letting the rod return. Repeat until you get no air coming out. That usually works far better than pumping the pedal. (put a plastic tube on the nipple so you don't get a face full of fluid) Cheers Steve
Geko
wife's crutch should do wonder to pump the pedal
stuart
Just remember that the clutch fluid reservoir section on a 3a is very small and will empty in about 4 pumps. Stuart.
