MadMarx
I see you are out in the Young Timers. Have you done Spa in it before? Me I'm a Virgin! Yes, TR4 stays home. My first race in Europe with the TR8 was at Spa. I did not too bad. 4th on the starting grid but then rain came and the rain tires were not up to the task and me not able to see anything because of the damp windscreen. As a virgin, be gentle at Eau Rouge.
jellison
Definitely. Been watching plenty of vids of Hriff round there. What times do you do round there? Byou have a bigger engine now?
MadMarx
My old engine of the TR4 could do 3:00 and a little fraction. TR8 did 2:49 but I suppose it to do 2:40 if driven well and good prepped. Seems a lack on both aspects at the moment. Edited June 15, 2016 by MadMarx
jellison
That is fast for the 4. And getting there in the TR8 (2:40 would be mega). We are likely similar pace overall, but the 8 would be fast in the bends and mine maybe more so on the straight. Mind it is getting that power down in the first place!!!!!!! MadMarx
After the engine trouble from last year a complete rebuild was necessary and we took chance to do some modifications to it and it seems react greatly with more power. Hope the engine will last and not explode.
jellison
4.6 rather than 4.0 now then from the entry list.
MadMarx
The rebuild has shown 4.

jellison
Whoa - that should be north of 400 ponies then. Those and those steamroller tyres will make it silly fast.

Dave McDonald
Power is nothing without control. The words of a wise man. I'm one of those "huge amounts of TRs." At the last count, 4 UK TRs + a Spitfire and 13 Continental TRs all mixed up with a vast range of other marques. Can't wait. Christian Sorry you won't be out with us in the TR4 but that probably means that I'll be one place further up the results sheet! Good luck in the TR8. I'll be watching. See you there. MadMarx
Hi Dave, The TR8 needs to be reliable first before I get with 2 cars to the track again. At Dijon the Tr4 will race.
TriumphV8
Normally the bottom end of the Rover is bulletproof. As I drive a close to that similar power on the street for two years now I think it was a very rare problem with the crank/engine block. I never found a out of round condition of mains in a block and I have five of them although I had some similar problems when fitting the cross bolt block. Whatever it was I will keep fingers crossed that it was solved and we can enjoy that car chasing the Porsche and TVR around the course! We will arrive on Sunday and so it will be essential that engine stays training and 1st race :-)

MadMarx
I'm looking forward to the Video, don't forget to turn on the Camera. I have two cameras installed. one of them is HD style. Not sure what video I publish. My bullet cam has now a density filter installed to darken the outisde view. Hopefully this will work okay. I'm very curious on the datas from the different tires. American Racer vs. Avon. Will be interesting to learn if there are differences. I've also made a photo:
