jerrytr5
Definitely a crack. Could be lined, but it would still have a crack and is expensive. Probably better to start with another block so am picking up a 2 litre from a local group member and we'll see how different it is from the 2.5. Jerry
jerrytr5
Picked up the replacement block (thanks Alistair & Mike NLG group). Turns out to be a post '71 'ME' series so has the recessed block, and more surprisingly (to me at least), has domed pistons. I'm just cogitating what CR I'm going to end up with using the 2.5 flat top pistons and my old cylinder head. Will I need to skim the block by a huge amount ? john.r.davies
Jerry, The domed pistons were fitted to 2L engines to avoid the time and cost of matching 2L heads dwn from the same castings as 2.5L heads. With a 2.5 crank and flattop pistons you can use the 2L head and have the same compression. John
