Lockley210
Went for an early morning run this morning and had an injector fail, inspection has revealed a piece of metal lodged in the tip of the injector Any ideas where could this have come from ? I think it might be time to order a new set from Neil Ferguson Cheers Mark
Mark69
Hi Mark . Have you got filters in your injectors. Can't tell from photo on my phone at mo. But could it be a piece of stripped thread?.
Lockley210
I Have taken the injector apart and it looks like the end of the spring is broken
boxofbits
Hi Mark It looks like a small piece of welding wire to me, maybe in the fuel lines somewhere. Has your fuel tank ever been welded. Looks as though if you have removed the debris it might work satisfactorily. Regards Kevin
Lockley210
Having second thoughts about the wire, looks a smaller diameter then the spring in the injector. Thinking back a few months ago I changed this injector for one I keep as a spare, perhaps the metal was lurking inside and I didnt notice. Its taken quite a long time to find its way to the tip. Think I might fit filters to the injectors
grumpy2
Didn't know they were user serviceable. Hmmmm And MR Ferguson will sell them outright?
Alec Pringle
User serviceable isn't quite so easy as it might sound - not without the right kit. Been there and done that back in the day, first without . . . . . and then with the right kit in an injection workshop. It's all too easy to terminally roger the injector (say he, having done just that), and considering Neil's modest charge I wouldn't even think about a diy job again ! Andrew Smith
...................and considering Neil's modest charge I wouldn't even think about a diy job again ! Nope, nor me - there's no injection of enthusiasm to phaff about will those little buggers when Neil does such a good job at a reasonable price.......
