Xmas6
Hi All At long last I`m about to mate the body tub to the chassis, both are straight and unmolested so it should be straightforward - pause for laughter! I`ve ordered a body fitting kit from the TR Shop but am confused as to what shims etc. to use initially. My understanding is that the slotted alloy shims are used to correct door gaps - is that correct? I`d be grateful for any help or guidance on this. Cheers Neil
JJC
Just make sure there's enough gap between the body and the chassis bridge to get the handbrake cables through
SeanF
This has come up quite a few times on the forum and there are many topics on it if you search. the alloy shims for fitting the body to the chassis are not slotted. They have holes. http://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/50880-sequence-for-bolting-up-chassis/?view=findpost&p=414346&hl=%2Bbody+%2Bshims

You should not use the shims to alter the gaps as you will cause problems elsewhere hence when re-building a shell you should have it levelled to and bolted down to the chassis that it is going to be mounted on and the gaps corrected then. SeanF
Apologies, my mistake. In my mind I was picturing the plate below which is of course steel, not alloy. http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-619395
